Nigel Smith (B.A., M.B.A., LL.B.) was called to the Bar in 2016. Nigel strives to work toward resolution outside of the courtroom. However, when litigation is required, he is a tenacious advocate for his clients’ interests.
Nigel grew up in Guelph, Ontario, but moved to Halifax, Nova Scotia to pursue an undergraduate degree in history from Dalhousie University. He returned to Ontario to complete a Master of Business Administration at Wilfred Laurier University before obtaining his law degree from the University of Edinburgh in the United Kingdom. Upon returning to Canada, Nigel completed his articles with a full-service law firm in Waterloo, Ontario, where he developed an interest in family law.
Nigel is an active member of the Hamilton Law Association. He is a strong community activist: he has worked with a number of charitable organizations, and he currently sits as the secretary for the Board of Directors at Guelph Independent Living. Nigel is an avid golfer and squash player. He also enjoys reading and can play a mean hand of Euchre.
